Caibleadh
On still nights in Ireland, eerie, voice-like calls, known as cailbleadh, can be heard drifting across the water, believed to be the mournful songs of lost spirits, forever exiled beneath the waves.
The inspiration for this piece arose while listening to the haunting cries of seals along the coastline. Their calls, echoing against the cliffs and resonating within sea caves, create a soundscape that feels almost preternatural in its beauty.
Premiered 2024, Vienna.
